Cuttack: A week after a man identified as Debabrata Mahapatra jumped into Kathajodi River after a tiff with his wife, a body has been recovered on the bank of River Devi at Rahama in Jagatsinghpur district.

While the body is suspected to be of Debabrata, his father claimed that his son is alive. He alleged that Debabrata's in-laws have kidnapped him and kept him in detention.

On the other hand, Cuttack SP (Rural) Radha Binod Panigrahi confirmed it to be the body of Debabrata as his driving license along with some cash has been recovered from pant pockets of the deceased.

Reportedly on October 9, after a suspected altercation with his wife on the Kathajodi bridge, Debabrata had jumped into the river while his wife and child were rooted to their spot in shock.

Even after several efforts by ODRAF team they were unable to trace Debabrata.
