Cuttack: Escape of a theft suspect from SCB Hospital in Cuttack on Saturday witnessed a major twist after he showed up at the residence of an advocate in the Millennium City and alleged of being tortured by police.

Briefing mediapersons, the suspect identified as Alok Sahu said that special squad from Jagatsinghpur district nabbed him from Brahmagiri in Puri district on December 12 last year under a false case.

Later, he was detained by Raghunathpur Police in Jagatsinghpur and subjected to physical torture. As his condition turned critical, he was admitted to the trauma intensive care unit (ICU) at SCB Hospital on January 4.

Meanwhile, unknown about Alok's whereabouts, his father filed a habeas corpus plea at the Orissa High Court. Following it, few on-duty police personnel gave him some money and asked him to return home, said Alok.
