Bhubaneswar: Like every other year, Odisha Government has announced early closure of schools for summer vacation due to the prevailing heatwave. The vacations begin April 18 onwards, this year.
All the schools and other educational institutions in the State will be closed from Thursday (April 18), informed Special Relief Commissioner Bishnupada Sethi.
A letter was also issued by Joint Commissioner Of Relief Pravat Ranjan Mohapatra directing the School and Mass Education Department to take the necessary steps accordingly.
This comes as a respite for the kids as summer temperatures have already cross 40 degrees Celsius in several districts of the State. With the soaring mercury, chances of heat stroke and dehydration have also increased. In 2018, the vacations had been declared form April 25.
