Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch nabbed two brown sugar peddlers from Nayabazar area in Balasore district on Saturday.
The accused have been identified as Susant Sethi (25) and Sk Sahid alias Sayed (30). Brown Sugar weighing 629 gms and other incriminating articles have been seized from their possession.
A case in this regard has been registered at Sahadevkhunta Police Station and further investigation of the case is underway.
Reportedly, following previous detections of illegal trade of Narcotic Drugs and seizure of same, surveillance has been kept on the drug peddlers of Odisha as well as bordering states to track their activities.
From January this year till date, STF has conducted raids at various places in Cuttack, Puri, Balasore, Angul, Khurda, Pipili, Dhenkanal, Bhubaneswar and Bhadrak and detected 16 cases against drug peddlers.
STF has apprehended 29 accused persons and also seized 2.278 kg brown sugar, 326.45 gm Opium (Aphima), Rs 13.21 lakh cash, one automatic pistol, two four-wheelers, nine motorbikes, bank accounts and other incriminating materials.
