Spurious Ghee Manufacturing Factory In Cuttack City Raided, 1 Held, Products Seized

Cuttack: Commissionerate Police on Wednesday swooped down on an adulterated ghee manufacturing factory in this city and rounded up a person besides seizing machine, labels, chemicals and packeted products.The arrested person was into the modus oprandi for the last six months and used 90% of chemicals against 10% of original ghee for the flavour to lure customers.

He also used the duplicate labels of branded companies’ ghee.

Acting on tip off, the Mangalabag police conducted raid at Professorpada under its police limits in this millennium city.

Mangalabag PS IIC Arun Kumar Swain informed, “Case No 292 dated 27.12.2017 has been registered under Sections 120 (B)/420/482/272/273/34 of the IPC, 78/79 Trade and Merchandise Act and 103/104 Trade Marks Act.”

“On 27.12.2017, basing on a tip off regarding manufacture of spurious Ghee by one Subash Chandra Behera in his house at Sagadiasahi Professorpada, raids were conducted. During raid huge quantities of duplicate prepared Ghee of OMFED, Devi, Durga companies, logo and pouch packets of above companies, sealing and packing machines, the empty packets of Palmoline oil were seized. Accused Subash Chandra Behera has been apprehended the case is under investigation,” the IIC explained.
