Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is in the hearts of people across Odisha, therefore the credit of BJD's victory goes to him, said newly elected Paradip MLA Sambit Routray on Saturday while contradicting his father Damodar Rout's statement.

Rout, the defeated BJP candidate for Balikuda-Erasama assembly seat, had reportedly on Friday commented that the BJD candidates including party supremo Naveen Patnaik emerged victorious in the recent polls because of the blessings and legacy of their fathers.

To which Sambit said that what he (Damodar Rout) said as an experienced person is his own opinion. As Biju Babu is the father of CM Naveen, the blessings of the former will always remain with his son, he added.

Answering to a media query on why Rout was pushed back to the third position in the assembly polls, Sambit said that BJD is a big force and the span of its rule can't be predicted. People will love BJD as it has served them and will reject the leaders who leave the party.
