Bhubaneswar: Customs officials seized 278.83 grams of smuggled gold from two passengers at Bhubaneswar airport on Wednesday.
The passengers had arrived the Biju Patnaik International Airport travelling on Air Asia flight from Bangkok. Acting on a tip-off, the sleuth intercepted him at the terminal and upon frisking, the yellow metal was detected.
The market value of the seizure has been estimated at Rs 9.08 lakh. The gold was in the form of rings of foreign origin, concealed within garment buttons, the Customs officials said. The passengers belong the Jharkhand and West Bengal.
