Bhubaneswar: The Sikh community has univocally condemned the assault on a member of their community Parvinder Pal Singh while expressing full faith in the country's judicial process.

"The Sikh community of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and all gurudwaras under the Orissa Sikh Pratinidhi Board (OSPB) have condemned the assault on Parvinder Pal Singh by some local goons on Tuesday over a dispute relating to the parking of a car," said an official communiqué of the OSPB issued here today.

The communiqué said that an FIR has been filed at Laxmisagar police station and the police have dismissed the PCR In charge for failing to prevent the attack and three accused persons have been arrested and forwarded to court.

"We are satisfied with police action in the incident. The Commissioner of Police has assured to submit the charge sheet within three days against the accused persons to stand trial in the court of law. He has also assured us that police will make a prayer for fast-tracking of the trial. We have full faith in the country's judicial process," the OSPB said in the communiqué.

The OSPB has claimed in the communiqué that local MLA Ananta Narayan Jena along with some high ranking police officials had visited the victim's residence and has assured him full support and protection.

"They have conveyed that even the Chief Minister has shown his concern in this matter and assured all help to the family. We are in touch with law enforcement agencies and will help Parvinder in all possible ways," the communiqué added.

The OSPB has termed the incident as a purely sporadic incident and nothing more than that.

The OSPB has described as 'unfortunate' the attempt by some people with a vested interest to give the incident a different colour by connecting it with Mangu Mutt, Puri.

"We also very strongly condemn such an attempt to take advantage of an unfortunate incident for an ulterior purpose. We all feel very safe and secure in Odisha and have made the State our home. The State of Odisha has always stood by us and we request everyone not to believe any motivated misrepresentation of the incident and maintain peace and harmony," the OSPB has appealed in the communiqué.
