Bhubaneswar: Shifting of the Bhubaneswar office of Central Organisation for Railway Electrification (CORE) to Bengaluru close on the heels of the bifurcation of East Coast Railway (ECoR) is like rubbing salt on wound, said BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra on Friday.

Accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of shattering the railways in Odisha, Patra said the State was yet to recover from the shock of establishment of South Coast Railway (SCoR), by carving out parts of Odisha under ECoR, when the electrification division of Indian Railways in Odisha was shifted to Bengaluru.

He termed it a conspiracy of the BJP and said people of Odisha will give an adequate reply to it in coming days. The people will not tolerate the ill efforts of BJP to hamper development of the State, added Patra.

As per an order by the Railway Board, the projects operated by Bhubaneswar unit of CORE will be closed after March 31 and the office of Chief Project Director (CPD), Railway Electrification will be shifted from Bhubaneswar to Bengaluru.
