**Bhubaneswar:** The year-end witnesses picnics and get-togethers to say goodbye to the year with fun. But, this year turned to be traumatic for a few picnickers. One person died and several got injured in separate road mishaps across the State on Thursday.
A youth was killed near Jarpada in Angul district early in the morning as the Toyota Innova in which he was travelling with three other co-passengers collided with a speeding truck. All the other three got injured and were rushed to Angul District Headquarters Hospital for treatment. The deceased has been identified as Santosh Pradhan of Deogarh district.
In another accident, a picnic bus carrying students of Bolangir Ayurvedic College collided with a stationary truck at Kadalimunda Square on Bolangir-Titlagarh road. About 8 students got injured and have been admitted to the Bolangir district headquarters hospital.
Similarly, another picnic bus carrying tourists from Kolkata to Puri met an accident near Mirigimundi under Rupsa PS of Balasore district as a truck hit it from behind in the wee hours of Thursday. Five tourists were injured and rushed to the Balasore DHH. The driver and the helper of the truck fled from the spot.
Last week, at least 15 persons including students were injured after a picnic bus carrying around 40 students met with and accident on CRPF fly-over here in the wee hours of Saturday.
