Cuttack: The first Odia mountaineer to scale Mt. Everest, Kalpana Dash who was admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital here on Monday evening has alleged the callous behavior of the doctors attending upon her.

“I had a severe stomach ache. Even after getting my ultrasound done here, I was asked to do it again in a private centre outside the hospital. Moreover, the doctors even asked me to be ready for an operation within 10 minutes. When I refused to be operated in such haste, they made me sign on a risk form forcibly,” informed the mountaineer.

“I am a mountaineer by profession with so much to do in future. I cannot have any operation performed on me in haste. It would jeopardize my whole career,” she further alleged.

The mountaineer was being treated at the Surgery ward of the Hospital.

Notably, Kalpana had scaled Mt Everest on 21 May, 2008, with a five-member team from United States, Canada and Nepal. A lawyer by profession, she had also scaled Mt Kilimanjaro (Africa) in 2014, Mt Aconcagua (South America) in January 2015, Mt Elbrus (Europe) in July 2015and Mt Kosciuszko (Australia) in December 2015.
