Cuttack: Jaga, one of the separated conjoined twin, needs to grow in home environment away from the hospital for mental development, said Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) Chairperson Sandhyabati Pradhan after visiting the siblings Jaga-Kalia at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack on Wednesday.
Pradhan said Jaga cannot be provided with all the facilities in the hospital such as education and playing games with children of his age. He also needs a peer group and it can only be possible if he is shifted to his home.
However, she added that he should be shifted to home with proper care as the doctors at SCB have informed that Jaga still needs a skull transplant and he will not be able to sustain at his own. It may take few more days for his complete recovery.
Pradhan further said that Jaga is just 4-year-old now so he can avail education after reaching the age of 5. Presently he needs play and study materials. She said that in order to provide Jaga with all facilities needed for development of a child, the Commission will write to concerned departments for the said purpose.
