Separated From Herd, Lone Tusker Kills One In Odisha’s Nuapada

Nuapada: One person was killed in an attack by a tusker at Tikholi in Khariar block of Nuapada district. In the attack which occurred today morning two other persons are missing.

The deceased has been identified as Bishnu Sethi (35).

As per reports, Bishnu along with his two friends were returning to their village when at about 5 am a tusker attacked them near the construction site of Lower Indra Irrigation Project. Later the locals found his dead body but couldn’t find his two associates. A search operation for the duo is underway.

Locals said that the lone pachyderm had somehow separated from his herd and has now lost its way. It has been causing havoc in the area since then, alleged the villagers. In protest, they kept the body of Bishnu on the road and demanded compensation for his family.
