Senior IPS Officer Sudhansu Sarangi Takes Charge As New Twin City Police Commissioner

Bhubaneswar: Odisha cadre senior IPS officer Dr Sudhansu Sarangi today assumed office as the new Police Commissioner of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack (Twin City).

He took over the charge from his immediate predecessor Satyajit Mohanty.

The 1990 batch Odisha cadre IPS officer is in the rank of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP).

He was SP Malkangiri, Sundargarh, Berhampur, Balasore and Keonjhar and also served as IG, Operations, CMD, Odisha Police Housing Corporation. He has also served in the Cabinet Secretariat on deputation to Government of India.

He is also a trained psychologist and did his post-graduation and PhD in Psychology from University of Liverpool, United Kingdom. 

The new Police Commissioner is a recipient of the Governpr's Police Medal, Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service and President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service. He is also a qualified para-trooper. 

Notably, Odisha Government on Monday (August 19) effected a major reshuffle at the IPS officers’ level and appointed the 1990-batch IPS officer as the new Police Commissioner of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack Urban Police Department (Commissionerate Police).

On the other hand, outgoing Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty has been posted as Additional DGP Prisons and Director Correctional Services.
