Bhubaneswar: The main campus of Skill Development Institute (SDI), Bhubaneswar was inaugurated by Union Petroleum and Natural Gas & Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan at Taraboi village near the foothills of Barunei in Khurda district on Sunday.

Addressing mediapersons after the event, Pradhan informed that the Ministry of Petroleum has spent Rs 500 crores towards the World Class institute in order to provide quality training to youths of Odisha and make them ready for employability so that they can bag jobs in and outside the country.

While SDI had been established from May 2016, it was running in a temporary campus in Bhubaneswar. From this academic year, the classes of SDI will run in the permanent campus.

Pradhan thanked Odisha Government for providing 46 acres land for the permanent campus of the institute which in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar, Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) established by Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and various national and international companies will train the youths of Odisha for international competitions.

The Union Minister further asserted that all the youths passed out from the institute in the last three years have been employed or have established their own enterprises and providing employment to others.
