Odisha: Eviction for SCB Medical Expansion Begins In Cuttack

Cuttack: An eviction drive to acquire land for the expansion SCB Medical College and Hospital campus started here today. The district administration has stated that land survey for this purpose on Birupa river bank is almost completed.

The final report and estimate will be submitted by the Cuttack Municipal Corporation to the State Government in another couple of days after which ground work will begin, Cuttack Collector Bhawani Sankar Chainy said.

The eviction drive for on the river bank for the mega SCB project is already underway. Around 500 plots on the river bank near Jagatpur will be identified to rehabilitate the evicted slum dwellers.

While steps have been taken for transfer of the land from Water Resources department to Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), the civic body officials have been instructed to develop the land with facilities like road, drinking water, electricity, toilets etc as soon as possible, added Chainy.

Revenue Divisional Commissioner of the Central Division, Anil Kumar Samal today held a meeting with district administration, CMC and revenue department officials and advised them to expedite the process.

"All stakeholders including, CMC and Roads and Bridges, Water Resources officials, Sub-Collector, Additional District Magistrate and Tehsildars were present at the meeting. The RDC reviewed the progress and instructed the line agecies expedite the work," said Chainy.
