Rs 5 Lakh Cash Award To One Panchayat In Each Of 314 Blocks For Best PEETHA Camp On Jan 26

Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of Republic Day (January 26), Rs 5 lakh cash award will be given away to one Gram Panchayat (GP) in each of the 314 blocks of the State. It will be presented at each district level Republic Day celebration venue.

The rewarded GP would utilize the cash award for construction of Mission Shakti house or Community Centre, etc.

Such an announcement has already been made by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik while launching the PEETHA Camp, which is a sub-scheme of ‘Ama Gaon Ama Bikash’.

This was informed today by Odisha ST & SC Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi at the State Secretariat here.

Speaking to media, the new Panchayati Raj Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi said, “One Panchayat of each Block will be awarded for best performance at PEETHA camp in December. It was announced by the Chief Minister and accordingly the Panchayats will be rewarded with Rs 5 lakh each.”

“On the occasion of Republic Day celebration (January 26) at the district level, those Panchayats will be rewarded,” the Minister informed. He further informed, “The money will be utilized by the Panchayat to construct their respective Mission Shakti houses or Community Centres, etc. Such instructions have been issued to them. One Panchayat of each of the total 314 Blocks will be awarded on the day (January 26).”
