Nuapada/Kalahandi: Addressing the election campaign meetings in the districts here today, BJD supremo and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today promised that his new government would provide Rs 5000 crore worth government deeds every year to the Self Help Groups (SHGs) under Mission Shakti, Rs 7 lakh to be increased to Rs 10 lakh for each woman under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana and free education to all girls.

In his speech, Naveen Patnaik said, “Women are the real double engine of development. We have laid stress on the women and girls in the BJD Manifesto. After formation of the BJD Government, the women under the Mission Shakti scheme will be given government jobs worth Rs 5,000 crore per year. They will be given the government jobs like mid-day meal (MDM), public distribution system (PDS), paddy procurement, management of Ashram schools, tourism potential management, hospital management, transportation, tax and revenue collection, supply of school uniform, etc. and by means of it the women will earn Rs 5,000 crore per year.”

He also promised, “Rs 25,000 marriage assistance for each poor girls, accidental insurance facility for every members of the Self Help Groups (SHGs), zero interest loan upto Rs 5 lakh to all the SHGs, the present amount of Rs 7 lakh worth health facility to every woman beneficiary under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) will be increased to Rs 10 lakh and every girl will be provided free education starting from KG to College, Medical, Engineering courses.”

Coming down heavily on the national BJP leaders, especially PM Modi and Amit Shah, Naveen Patnaik burst, “Nuapada and Kalahandi are remembered by the tall leaders of Centre only at the time of election. Ask them, where is the Bhawanipatna Rail Wagon factory? Where is the double MSP and water to every farm land? Why was the KBK Yojana stopped? Why was the scholarship of SC/ST students stopped? Why are farmers suffering while the insurance companies are reaping the profits? Who abetted all these?”

“4.5 crore people of Odisha are my family. I’ll serve you till my last breath. Bless me, cast vote on conch symbol, twice, once for the MP and another for the MLA,” urged the BJD supremo and Chief Minister.

Notably in the run-up to the ensuing general elections (both Lok Sabha and Odisha Assembly polls) and in view of the phase-I polling on April 11 as well as phase-II on April 18 in some of the Parliamentary constituencies along with their respective assembly segments, BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today also held whirlwind campaignings and road shows in Nuapada and Kalahandi districts.
