Respite From Heat Wave On Cards, Rainfall Likely At Isolated Places In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Though temperature over 40 degree Celsius was recorded at 11 stations across Odisha in the last 24 hours, rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over 17 districts in the State in the next 24 hours.

As per India Meteorological Department (IMD), light rain or thunder-shower with lightning likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Sambalpur while dry weather likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Further, thunderstorm with gusty wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph and lightning likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal and Kalahandi.

However, heat wave condition is very likely to prevail over isolated pockets of the districts of Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Baragarh, Sonepur, Bolangir and Nuapada till May 29, the IMD stated.
