Balasore/Jharsuguda: Hours after Congress announced names of candidates for two more Lok Sabha seats and 54 Assembly constituencies in Odisha, supporters of some ticket aspirants staged protests in their respective constituencies for rejection of party candidature.

Supporters of former Nilagiri MLA Chittaranjan Sadangi staged protest and ransacked a party programme in their constituency after Congress named Nilagiri queen Manoj Manjari Debi as its candidate for Nilagiri assembly seat.

Manjari Debi is the wife of the 39th Raja Saheb of Nilgiri, Jayant Chandra Mardraj Harichandan, who has been a member in the State Election Committee of Youth Congress in 1996 and General Secratary of OPCC's Art and Culture Cell in the year 2003 and 2004.

Similarly, Congress activists staged protest in front of Jharsuguda District Congress office after the party named Mahendra Nayak as its candidate for Jharsuguda assembly seat.

Despite many ticket aspirants present in the constituency, the party is fielding an outsider, alleged the agitators. They demanded ticket should be given to a local leader or party activist or they will withdraw their support in the ensuing general elections.
