Jharsuguda: After suo motu taking over the charge of probing into the bizarre and horrendous murder of a minor college-going girl recently over religious superstition in presence of her kith and kin, a 6-member team of Odisha Crime Branch (CB) reached the Rengali Police Station on Tuesday and was handed over the charge of further investigation.

The team led by DSP Ramesh Chandra Sethy is now in possession of all records relating to the police investigation done till date. The team is told to stay put here for some days for furthering the spot investigation and interrogation of the all the arrested accused.

Meanwhile, 13 accused have been arrested in the case including the kingpin and so-called god woman (Shiv Guru cult) Suchitra Durua and the two sisters who allegedly caused the brutal consequences of their related sister over the religious superstition in presence of other family members inside the house on Thursday (March 2) night last week.

Notably, deceased Sanjukta Jayapuria was invited by her cousin sisters Soudamini and Santosini for offering worship to Lord Shiva. After the puja began, Santosini and Soudamini started dancing vigorously which left all the people present scared. Some of the people left the puja after such erratic behaviour of the sisters. Then the cousin sisters stripped Sanjukta off her clothes and cut her hair. Then they turned violent and started dancing on Sanjukta’s chest and attacked her with a ‘Trishul’ (Trident). They also pounded Sanjukta with a stone. Police said, the accused claimed to have been possessed by Lord Brahma & Lord Bishnu before the attack.

Later, the villagers captured the two girls and locked them in a room before informing the police. Surprisingly, both the accused have been identified as college-going students.
