Relatives Attack Couple Over Bursting Of Firecrackers In Odisha's Balasore

Khandapada: A couple was attacked by their relatives at Kalyani village under Khandapada police limits of Balasore district today for bursting firecrackers in the morning.

The couple, identified as Gagan Bihari Sethi (45) and Shantilata Sethi (40), have sustained major injuries on their head.

As per a police complaint lodged by Shantilata, irate over bursting of firecrackers by her children in the morning, Gangadhar Sethi, his wife Sita Sethi and brother-in-law Raju Sethi of their village, attacked her husband with sharp weapons today afternoon.

While Gagan was grievously injured in the attack, Shantilata also received blows on her head in an attempt to save her husband from their clutches. They were rescued after some passersby heard their screams.

They were immediately rushed to Gopalpur Community Health Centre (CHC) where Gagan got ten stitches on his head.

Meanwhile, Shantilata has demanded immediate arrest and stringent action against the trio.
