Rayagada Farmer Ends Life Over Crop Failure

03 December 2017

Rayagada: There seems to be no end to farmer suicides in the state over crop failure as the latest allegation has been reported from Odisha’s Rayagada district where a farmer succumbed to his suicidal attempt on Sunday. The deceased farmer has been identified as Narendra Hikakka.

Hikakka consumed poison on November 26 after which he was rushed to a hospital here.

However, despite best of the efforts by the doctors he succumbed to his suicide attempt.

Notably, he had taken a crop loan for cultivating paddy on it. But he suffered crop loss due to pest attack and was under severe pressure to repay back.
