Rain, Thunderstorm May Mar First Phase Of Elections In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: While the first phase of elections in Odisha is going to commence on April 11, the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has predicted rain and thundershower is likely to lash most parts of the State in the next five days.

As per the Meteorological Centre, the cyclonic circulation extending upto 0.9 kilometres above mean sea level over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Jharkhand now lies over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh.

Under its influence rainfall has already occurred at one or two places over the districts of North and South Coastal Odisha, while weather has reportedly been dry over the districts of South Interior Odisha.

While light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and South Interior Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of North Interior Odisha in the next 24 hours, few districts of Coastal Odisha and Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Boudh and Kalahandi districts are going to experience thunderstorm with gusty winds.

Similar weather situations are likely to continue till April 10 in around 15 districts of Odisha. While hailstorm is likely to occur at one or two places over Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada and Kandhamal districts, dry weather is likely to prevail over the rest of the districts.

Further on April 11, while light rain or thunder-shower likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhmal, Koraput, Rayagada, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj, thunder storm with gusty winds and lightning likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Koraput, Malkangiri and Rayagada.

On April 12, while light rain or thunder-shower likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Dhenkanal, Kandhmal, Rayagada, Koraput and Nabarangpur, thunder storm with gusty winds and lightning likely to occur at one or two places over a few districts of Coastal Odisha.

Finally on April 13, light to moderate rain or thunder-shower likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, Boudh and Rayagada and light rain or thunder shower likely to occur at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha. Besides, thunder storm with gusty winds likely to occur at one or two places over South Coastal Odisha and Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Kandhmal, Rayagada, Sonepur and Bolangir.

No large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) during next 2-3 days over the districts of Odisha, have been predicted by the Meteorological Centre.
