**Bhubaneswar: ** The weather is once again on the verge of playing spoilsport in Deepawali celebrations in the state, especially in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, with the Bhubaneswar-based Meteorological Centre on Wednesday warning of heavy rainfall from 19th afternoon onwards.
Confirming the threat of rains darkening the festival of lights, Sarat Chandra Sahu, Director, Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar explained that “the rain will continue to pour from Wednesday up until the 20th and thereafter from 21st onwards there would be reduction in rainfall as the rainstorm moves northwards.”
He also made it clear that “on the 18th and 19th of October, in Southern Odisha and its adjoining areas chances of heavy rainfall are very much in the cards. And that, after the 20th there is likelihood of heavy rainfall in Northern Odisha, with reduction in the intensity of rainfall in that part of the state from 21st October onwards.”
“The well-marked low pressure will gradually develop into a deep depression and its direction is more towards north and north-westerly direction. Thus, we are expecting it to make landfall in Odisha after crossing the coastal areas of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh on the 19th afternoon.” The Meteorological Centre Director further added.
