Railway Budget 2019: Centre Allocates Rs 7,010 Cr For East Coast Railway

Bhubaneswar: Elimination of all unmanned level crossings on the broad gauge network was achieved on January 31, 2019. Presenting the Railway Budget 2019, Piyush Goyal highlighted safety as the biggest achievement of the Modi Government.

No railway fare hike was announced in Railway Budget 2019, given the fact this is the year of Lok Sabha elections. On the other hand, the allocation for East Coast Railway was Rs 7,010 crore, which is 13 percent more than 2018.

This funds allocated for ECoR includes all budgetary heads such as Projects, Electrifications, Passenger Amenities, Workshops, Track and Staff Amenities.

Allotment for new lines in ECoR this year is Rs 2,630 crore which is 67 per cent than the last year. The allotment for passenger amenities is Rs 181 crore while it was Rs 82 crore in 2018, an increase of 119 %, an ECoR official said.
