Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday felicitated 11 families who voluntarily surrendered their land for Puri Srimandir security and redevelopment project.
Hailing their sacrifice for the Holy City, the Chief Minister said that their contribution will be inked in the pages of history as a sacrifice to the Odia community and Jagannath cult. “Their sacrifice will be remembered by the future generations,” Naveen said, at a function organised at the Lok Seva Bhavan here.
The Chief Minister exhorted others to also follow these families and accept the package offered by the State Government and surrender their land for the service of Puri and the Srimandir.
“I am extremely happy that you honoured my call and request and gave your land for the security of Srimandir (Puri Jagannath Temple). People of Odisha are indebted to you all for your contribution,” the CM said.
Felicitating the families with silver idols of the Holy Trinity, Naveen added, “Srimandir is invaluable for us and Lord Jagannath is the identity of Odisha. If we can do a little for the security of Lord Jagannath’s shrine, we should feel ourselves fortunate.”
