Puri: The Puri district administration has decided to demolish Government structures and public utilities which are attached to the 'Meghanad Pachery' (grand outer wall of Jagannath Temple). The work will be carried out on August 19, in which all such structures including illegal encroachment will be removed, Collector Balwant Singh said.

"The action will be taken in complaince with the orders of the High Court and also to beautify the heritage of the Meghanad Pachery. Last but not the least, security of the Holy Shrine is also a matter of concern, for which the Meghanad Pachery should be free from encroachment," Singh said.

The Collector said that there are primarily public utilities which have been build close to the temple's perimeter wall. Those structures which are not a part of the temple will be removed. The structures which are private of involve legal complications will be assessed later, he added.
