Puri: Police have detained a minor girl at the Singhadwar Police Station here for allegedly posting videos showing the inside view of the Shree Jagannath Temple and devotees having ‘Mahaprasad’ at Ananda Bazaar in her Tik Tok and Instagram accounts.
The minor girl was being interrogated by the Singhadwar police today, till reports last came in.
According to police sources, the minor is being questioned under what circumstances she had shot the videos and why she had done so.
Police following investigations into the minor girl's social media accounts identified her and traced her to be a resident of Nirakarpur area in Khurda district, police sources said.
Later on Wednesday, police came to know that the minor was participating at a cultural programme in Nimapada area of Puri district, following which she was rounded up and brought to Singhadwar police station, the sources added.
In the meantime, the minor girl through a post on social media had sought pardon for her mistake.
Parents of the minor girl have accompanied her to the police station.
It may be mentioned here that two Tik Tok videos featuring Jagannath Temple premises had gone viral on social media--the inside view of the temple premises and devotees having ‘Mahaprasad’ at Anand Bazaar.
Convener of Puri Yuva Adhibakta Sangh Anil Kumar Sahoo who is also a lawyer had filed a complaint at the Singhadwar police station in this connection on Monday last.
A similar complaint was also lodged by Shree Jagannath Temple's Security Administrator Sarat Mishra on the same day.
A case was registered at Singhadwar police station vide case no. 103/19 under sections 295A IPC, 30 of the Ancient Monument Act, 66 IT Act and 30A of the Jagannath Temple Act.
It is worthwhile to mention here that photography and carrying of mobile phones are strictly banned inside the Shree Jagannath Temple.
