Cuttack: Cuttack Collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani and Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Commissioner Ananya Das on Monday roamed the streets near Ganga Mandir and Netaji Subhas Bose birth place to check the measures for tackling the water-logging issues in the city.

“We are looking at every nook and corner of the areas. People need to understand and be aware. Several of their activities are choking the drains and canals that are causing water-logging problems. This is leading to water pollution and then comes the risk of jaundice and other water-borne diseases. So, it is necessary that people become more aware,” Bhabani Shankar Chayani said.

On battling diseases, he said, “Health officers have begun visiting all these areas and are taking preventive steps. CDMO team will also visit places in mobile vans to distribute medicines. All necessary help will be assured by us.”

To check water-logging, 195 pumps have already been pre-positioned, informed Ananya Das. She had earlier informed that distribution of halogen tablets have begun to counter jaundice and Information Education Communication (IEC) activities have been planned to create further awareness.
