Bhubaneswar: The ongoing tug of war over party tickets distribution was also witnessed today before Naveen Niwas, the residence of BJD president and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Opposition to the candidatures announced by the BJD chief recently was the scene of the day too.

Opposing Kendrapara parliamentary constituency’s Rajnagar BJD MLA candidate Dhruba Charan Sahu’s candidature, Ashok Kumar Mallik complained, “Dhruba Sahu has been oppressing us a lot for the last five years. Despite our efforts last time, he had lost the election. Why has such a loser been given ticket?”

“We demand Dhruba Sahu’s ticket should be cancelled and in his place Nishikant Pradhan must be given ticket,” he shouted.

Similarly, opposing BJD MLA candidate Debashish Nayak and supporting BJD secretary Bijay Nayak, Kalu Samal from Jajpur parliamentary constituency’s Bari assembly seat said, “We are here to demand ticket for Bijay Nayak. If he is given ticket, the people Bari will get benefitted. Debashis Nayak had been contesting since long. We also supported him and cast votes in his favour. But, he has failed to recognize the people of Bari till date.”

“As Bijay Nayak hails from our constituency, we think he will certainly be benevolent to us. Due to this reason, we have assembled here in such a large number,” he stated.
