Bhubaneswar: After the historic Supreme Court verdict on the Ayodhya land dispute, the Director-General of Odisha Police, Bijay Kumar Sharma said that the State Police is ready if any adverse situation arises and will do their best in maintaining law and order situation in the State. However, he asserted that there is a state of peace in the State.
DGP said, “We had started preparing for the judgment well in advance. We got in touch with community leaders and distinguished members of the society. We had taken their inputs and implemented accordingly. We have deployed forces in sensitive districts. Respective SPs are overseeing the maintenance of law and order situation and the communal harmony.”
“Static force and as well as mobile forces have been deployed as per requirement. Reserve force is also kept at hand for deployment in case of emergency. We are also keeping an eye on social media,” said DGP.
DGP Sharma said that the Supreme Court’s Ayodhya verdict must be accepted by one and all.
Speaking on the landmark Supreme Court judgment, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy said, “We were prepared for the verdict since yesterday. Strict instructions were given to Odisha Police and district administration for maintenance of peace and harmony. As of now, we are not expecting any untoward situation.”
