Bargarh: Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Minister Pratap Jena on Thursday reviewed various projects in Bargarh district including the Gangadhar Meher Lift Irrigation Project in Bijepur.

The State Government has decided to supply piped water from River Mahanadi to all villages in Attabira, Bargarh, Bijepur, Barpali and Gaisilet blocks of Bargarh district at a cost of Rs 800 crore. Jena while reviewing the project gave emphasis on supply of safe drinking water to all villages.

During the review of Gangadhar Meher Lift Irrigation Project in Bijepur, built at a cost of Rs 1300 crore, the Executive Engineer informed that the tender process for the project will be over by October this year.

While Bargarh Collector Indramani Tripathy, Rural Development Minister Susanta Singh, Bargarh MLA Debesh Acharya, Attabira MLA Snehangini Chhuria and Zilla Parishad President Mukta Sahu among others were present in the review meeting, Jena informed that further discussions to expedite the projects will be held with departmental authorities in Bhubaneswar.
