Balasore: A family in Balasore's Oupada is suffering from an unexplainable misery. While the household comprises seven members, one of them is physically handicapped. This child around 11 years old was born with a deformity - he has three legs.

The child, Sudam Charan Behera is the elder son of Madhusudhan Behera, a daily wager at Badapokhari village in Oupada Block. Sudam's ailment is getting worse as he is growing older.

Sudam’s third leg is regularly afflicted with infections regularly and his father is unable to arrange money for treatment.

While Madhusudhan hardly manages square meals for his family, arranging money for the treatment of the 11-year-old is a far-fetched dream. The child's mother weeps with desperation and cries for help.

The local Sarpanch has arranged a handicap allowance of Rs 700 per month for Sudam. However, this amount remains inconsequential. Sources said that the infections which he is suffering may also be fatal.

Sudam's condition is serious and he urgently requires a surgery for removal of the extra-limb. His parents have urged the Government authorities to consider their case and help the child with appropriate medical attention.
