Kendrapara: Poor financial condition has been a hurdle for 17-year-old Payal Bain, of Kharinasi village in Mahakalapara block of Kendrapara district, who aims to bring laurels to Odisha and the country by participating in national and international championships.

Payal, daughter of Sukadev Bain has been learning the martial art from the day she learned to walk properly. Besides earning gold and other medals in State and National events, she is also a meritorious student.

She had bagged Gold Medal at the 5th IGKA Inter State Karate Championship - 2013 held at Paradip and had also secured first position at the ‘11 Year Girls Kata’ event in 2nd Open National Funakoshi Cup Karate - DO Championship held at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Cuttack in December 2013.

She had also been felicitated by Mahakalapara Panchayat Samiti for securing over 80 per cent marks in Annual High School Certificate Examination (HSC) in 2017.

Payal has now scored First Division in her Plus Two examination and with over eight medals, four trophies and number of certificates and wants to pursue a career in the sport of Karate. She has appealed the public to support her to achieve the dream.
