Khurdha The police have arrested 16 persons in connection with the alleged ransacking of Begunia police station on Wednesday. Irate locals had barged into the PS and had ransacked it demanding action against the local BJD MLA Prasant Jagdev for allegedly threatening a former Sarpanch.
The police carried out multiple raids and intensified patrolling in Bolgarh and Begunia to nab the accused. They have seized 12 vehicles during the raid and are on the look for the other accused involved in the incident.
On the other hand, a notice has been sent to the MLA from the police station.
Notably, the locals allege that the BJD MLA threatened to physically assault the former sarpanch Nanda Kishore Swain. The latter had lodged a complaint with the police but as no action was taken against the legislator. This prompted the locals to barge into the premises of the PS.
