Bhubaneswar: Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Minister Pratap Jena today warned of stern action against those involved in corruption and corrupt practices.
As many as seven programmes including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Drinking Water, Mamata Yojana, and Mission Shakti were brought under the purview of 'Mo Sarkar' initiative from yesterday.
"Departmental Secretary, myself, Chief Minister, and Chief Minister's Office (CMO) will directly talk to the beneficiaries of PMAY over the phone," informed Jena speaking to reporters here today, a day after inclusion of PMAY and Drinking Water under Mo Sarkar.
The Minister said that during interactions with PMAY beneficiaries, the callers will ascertain from them if any person is/was seeking illegal gratification or if they have been/or are being subjected to harassment by any official of the block office, sarpanches of GPs, Panchayat Executive Officer or GRS for extorting money from them.
"In addition to that, we will seek feedback from the people over the phone on drinking water and difficulties if any faced by them. And accordingly, action will be taken," warned Jena.
Another Cabinet Minister of Naveen Patnaik, Women & Child Development and Mission Shakti Minister Tukuni Sahu opined: "Chief Minister's Mo Sarkar Yojana aims to make our government's programme accessible to the people in a transparent manner."
Informing that 'Mamata Yojana' and 'Mission Shakti' have been brought under 'Mo Sarkar' the Minister said that she had a meeting in this regard today and it was decided to first bring 'Mamata Yojana' under the purview of 'Mo Sarkar.
Subsequently 'Mission Shakti' will be added, she said.
"After getting the login id we will directly call up at least 10 beneficiaries who have benefitted under the 'Mamata Yojana' and ascertain from them about the benefits they have derived under the programme" the Minister stated.
The intelligentsia too have praised the Mo Sarkar initiative and have opined for the inclusion of all departments under it.
"Mo Sarkar is a good initiative. This should apply to all departments, the reason being this will empower the general public," said senior journalist Dilip Bisoi commenting on the inclusion of more departments and schemes under Mo Sarkar.
He said that the impacts that we are seeing today were due to Naveen Patnaik government's policy of zero tolerance towards corruption.
"That's the reason why Odisha is a State where bribery is less. When the next survey is undertaken you will find that with the implementation of Mo Sarkar and 5T Initiative corruption has drastically reduced," Bisoi pointed out.
"In this new system, subordinate staff who were hitherto thinking that allegations against them won't reach the higher-ups, they are now terrified. As a consequence of that corruption will decrease and the delivery system will be strengthened," the senior journalist explained.
