Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Bhubaneswar today and headed straight to take a stock of the situation in the affected areas of the city and adjoining Puri, in the aftermath of the extremely severe cyclone Fani.
Modi was received at Biju Patnaik International Airport by Governor Ganeshi Lal, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Chief Secretary AP Padhi, DG Police Dr RP Sharma, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP Odisha President Basant Panda, Aparajita Sarangi and Baijayant Panda.
He immediately proceeded to conduct an aerial survey of the Cyclone-hit areas and was accompanied by Naveen Patnaik and Ganeshi Lal. He took stock of the situation and marked the affected areas in his map. A large contingent of camera persons and experts has also come along with Modi who were seen accompanying him today.
Later in the day, he held discussions with senior officers of Telecom, Railway, Health and Energy departments. It is notable to mention here that Odisha Government has already begun relief and restoration work on a war-footing and has assured normalcy soon.
Meanwhile, the Centre has already released over Rs 300 crore in advance for Odisha’s State Disaster Relief Fund. Modi has also announced Rs 1000 crore relief package for the FANI-affected districts, soon after the landfall of the Cyclone.
