Baripada: Inaugurating a slew of projects for Odisha at Baripada in tribal-dominated Mayurbhanj district today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Centre’s initiatives are focused towards easing the life of the underprivileged and middle class.

Greeting all with ‘Jay Jagannath’ and wishing Odisha a ‘Happy New Year’, PM Modi elaborated on the development projects that he inaugurated today.

The projects that were dedicated to the nation are IOCL’s Balasore-Haldia-Durgapur section of Paradip-Haldia-Durgapur LPG pipeline, doubling of Chilikidara-Sagadapata and Naranpur-Basantpur railway line and Multi-Modal Logistics Park at Balasore.

The Prime Minister also flagged off 2nd passenger train from Tatanagar to Badampahad.

Apart from these projects, he laid foundation of four-laning of Rimuti-Koida section of NH-215 (43.2 km), four-laning of Singara-Binjabahal section of NH-6 (104.2 km) and four-laning of Koida-Rajamunda section of NH-215 (53.25 km).

In addition, he inaugurated restoration of ancient fort Haripurgarh and Rasikaray temple in Mayurbhanj and Post Office Passport Seva Kendras at Aska, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur & Keonjhar.

“Holistic development is the mission as well as culture of the Union Government. Over the past four and a half years, we have been committed to a mode of progress which is dedicated to improve the life of the common man,” said Modi.

“The Balasore-Haldia gas pipeline will provide cooking gas directly to eight districts in West Bengal and Odisha. Earlier the same gas was transported through tankers which was costlier, time consuming and not environment friendly. All these impediments will be overcome with this pipeline project,” he added.

Highlighting the importance of connectivity, Modi said that new projects for highways, railway lines, waterways and internet will bolster economic development of Odisha.

“We have also given due importance to highlight our illustrious culture and heritage. Beautification and restoration of Rasikaray temple and old fort will be made more illuminated and beautification. We will preserve and create more employment,” he stated.

Passport problem will now be eased off as Central Government attempted to reduce the problem and today it was further inaugurated at Aska, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Jajpur and Keonjhar, he also stated.
