Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Naveen Patnaik on taking his oath as Odisha’s Chief Minister. He resorted to his twitter handle to extend his best wishes to the BJD supremo as he scripted history by swearing in as the Chief Minister of Odisha for the fifth time.

“Congratulations to Shri Naveen Patnaik Ji on taking oath as Odisha’s Chief Minister. Best wishes to him and his team in fulfilling the people’s aspirations. I assure complete cooperation from the Centre in working for #Odisha’s progress," tweeted PM Narendra Modi.

President Ram Nath Kovind also spoke to Chief Minister Patnaik and greeted him on assumption of the office for 5th consecutive term.

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu tweeted, "I congratulate Shri Naveen Patnaik ji on being sworn in as Chief Minister of #Odisha for a record fifth time. I wish all the very best to him & his team for future endeavours. State & Centre should work together as Team India for all-round & sustainable development. @CMO_Odisha"

The oath taking ceremony was held in full public view for the first time in capital city’s Exhibition Ground where many eminent personalities like industrialist Naveen Jindal, veteran journalist Prabhu Chawla, Managing Director of ITC Sanjeev Puri, former CMD of NALCO Anshuman Das, ace sprinter Dutee Chand, chess player Padmini Rout were present.

BJP Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also extended his best wishes through his tweet. He tweeted, "Best wishes to Shri Naveen Patnaik on taking oath as the CM of #Odisha. I am hopeful that the State Govt. will proactively support the Centre in uplifting the lives of our Odia brothers & sisters to help further the dream of a developed & #NewOdisha."

In this election, Naveen had skillfully warded off stiff competition from the over-confident BJP and waded through the natural obstacles like the Cyclone FANI which swept through Odisha on May 3.
