Phase II ‘KALIA’ Beneficiaries Will Soon Get Their Assistance: Odisha Finance Minister

Bhubaneswar: While 12.45 lakh Phase I beneficiaries of the Odisha Government’s “KALIA” scheme were distributed financial assistance through DBT following its launch at Puri on January 24 by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the State Finance Minister today informed that over 13 lakh farmers selected for the Phase II will get their assistance soon.

He also informed that 5 lakh beneficiaries will also be given the Livelihood Support under the scheme for which each will be given Rs 5000 as the first installment out of the Rs 12,500 meant for it.

Talking to media, Odisha Finance Minister Sashi Bhusan Behera said, “KALIA scheme has aroused unprecedented interest among the farmers. Soon after its implementation was launched at Puri, all the beneficiaries of the Phase I have received the financial assistance through DBT.”

He informed, “The Phase II will be given to over 13 lakh beneficiary farmers. The date and place will be soon announced. Because, some error that was noticed during the Phase I is under verification and rectification. All the system is on progress as KALIA scheme is the most significant one for the State Government. Priority has been given to it.”

“In the Phase II, the beneficiaries will be more than 13 lakh. Livelihood Support will also be given to 5 lakh beneficiaries. Survey has been over. Hence, each of them will be entitled to financial assistance of Rs 12,500 while they will each be getting Rs 5,000 as the first installment,” the Odisha Finance Minister further informed.
