Puri: Gracing the 20th Foundation Day of ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in the holy land of Lord Jagannath here in the pilgrim city on Tuesday, BJD supremo-cum-Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik reminded his partymen and brigade that the people are the ultimate masters in a democracy for which all should take a solemn pledge at the sacred Jagannath Dham to be simple and serve people sympathetically.
Addressing the special occasion in chaste Odia with ‘Jay Jagannath’ greeting, the Odisha Chief Minister stressed on simple living and high thinking, self-less service to the masses and self-sacrifice as they had been the ideology of Utkal Gourav Madhusudhan Das and Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das for which they have been the icons as well as perennial sources of inspiration.
Giving vent to the language of his heart to his ‘Biju Parivar’, the BJD supremo said that Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has turned to be a ‘social revolution’ in the last 20 years.
He also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the people of Odisha for their love and affection and bestowing him with the opportunity to serve them.
Laying utmost stress on ‘simplicity’ in public life, the regional satrap exhorted his partymen and leaders to religiously follow it and advised, “Simple living and high thinking should be our aim. Simplicity has its own power which connects to the masses. In the words of Dr Kalam, Truth and Simplicity are self maintained without any cost. Hence, I wish that you should all live a simple life and serve people with a sympathetic attitude. Respect the people and win their heart and trust.”
“People are our ultimate masters. So serve them with all humility. Keep the promises given to the people,” Naveen Patnaik warned his partymen and leaders.
