Bhubaneswar: Patriotic tunes were the flavour of Beating the Retreat Ceremony held at the 7th Battalion Grounds here on Thursday. A number of bands from the Odisha State Armed Police participated in the event and played more than a dozen tunes which gripped the attention of the audience.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik presided over the ceremony as the chief guest. Among others, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Asit Kumar Tripathy, DG Police, Dr RP Sharma, Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty and senior officials of the administration and State Police were present.

The bagpiper band, pipe band and brass bands were the centre of attraction at the ceremony. As the bugle was sounded for the retreat, fireworks lit up the police grounds in a riot of colours. The 7th battalion of OSAP conducted and Commissionerate of Police of the Twin City organised the ceremony.
