Bhubaneswar: While Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) has yesterday recommended its final list of party candidates for the seal of approval of All India Congress Committee (AICC) high command, stress has been given on fielding women, youths and new faces for the upcoming general elections.

This was claimed by AICC Odisha-in-charge Jitendra Singh today.

The final list of candidates sent by Odisha PCC to AICC is meant for the 147 assembly seats and 21 Lok Sabha seats in the State.

Talking to media, AICC Odisha in-charge Jitendra Singh asserted, “We have decided that our party ticket won’t be allotted to more than one member of a family. The way 3-4 tickets are demanded by a family will not be entertained.”

“We have decided that maximum seats will be allotted to women, youths and new faces. It’s the need of the hour that there should be representation of the youths as 50% of the population of Odisha constitutes youth mass,” the AICC representative averred.
