Panchayats In Puri To Be Rewarded For Exceptional Cyclone Relief, Restoration Work

Bhubaneswar: Three panchayats in each block of Puri district who have done exceptional relief and restoration work in the aftermath of cyclone FANI will be rewarded with financial incentives as encouragement to continue such work in future.

Secretary of Information and Public Relations department, Sanjay Singh, said that three panchayats in each block will be selected for the first, second and third prize as per some parameters set by the Odisha Government.

The winners will be selected based on the type of relief and restoration measures taken, if they were able to supply safe drinking water to people, if they were able to clean roads, institutions, schools and Anganwadi centres, how they managed free kitchen and distributed ex-gratia and what sanitation measures have been taken by them.

The panchayats securing first position will be awarded with financial incentive of Rs 5 lakh each, while panchayats securing second and third position will be awarded with Rs 3 and 2 lakh each respectively.
