Over 500 Construction Workers Felicitate Odisha CM For Pension Hike & Financial Benefits

Bhubaneswar: Before embarking on his Kendrapara visit to address a Mission Shakti convention, Odisha Chief Minister was greeted by over 500 construction workers at his residence Naveen Niwas, who felicitated the CM for providing them with a hike in pension and other financial benefits.

The workers said that over 26 lakh families are reaping the gains and this has made Odisha a modern State. It is notable to mention here that the pension of construction workers has been raised from Rs 300 to Rs 500 per month. The retired construction workers who are above 80 years age will get Rs 700 as monthly pension.The revised pension will be effective from February 2019, a notification stated.

The Chief Minister also approved marriage and death assistances for the construction workers. For a daughter's marriage the construction workers will get an assistance of Rs 50,000. The amount was Rs 25,000 earlier.Similarly, a construction worker who dies a natural death, his/her family will get an assistance of Rs 2 lakh. The amount was Rs 1 lakh earlier.For accidental deaths, the compensation has been increased from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 4 lakh, the notification added.
