8 Killed As Bus Skids Off Bridge In Ganjam

Berhampur: As many as eight passengers were killed and around 30 others critically injured after a bus skidded off a bridge near Taptapani Ghati in Ganjam district in the wee hours of Wednesday.

Reportedly, the bus on its way from Rayagada to Berhampur had halted near Luhagudi for a tea break at around 3 AM. Few minutes after leaving the spot the bus allegedly had a brake failure. Subsequently, the driver lost control of the vehicle and it skidded off the bridge and overturned.

On getting information, fire fighting teams from Digapahandi, Mohana, Paralakhemundi and Berhampur along with few ambulances rushed to the spot and rushed the injured to nearby hospital.

Many injured have been shifted to Digapahandi hospital and MKCG Medical College & Hospital in Berhampur. As per last reports, rescue operations are being carried out on a war footing.
