Orissa HC Grants Bail To Mahima Mishra

14 November 2019

Bhubaneswar: Orissa High Court on Thursday granted bail to industrialist Mahimananda Mishra in connection with the murder of Mahendra Swain, General Manager of Seaways Shipping and Logistics. The HC directed the lower court to impose condition and set Mishra free on bail.

At present, Mishra has been lodged at Choudwar jail in Cuttack. Swain was shot dead by four assailants at Paradip on October 26, 2016. After the murder, Mishra had fled to Thailand. He was brought back to India in December 2016 and later arrested on charges of masterminding Swain's murder over business rivalry.

Earlier on September 19 2018, Mishra surrendered before the Court after the Supreme Court rejected the bail granted to him by the Orissa High Court. The Apex Court had also ordered to take him into custody.
