Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has been extensively touring the length and breadth of Odisha during the election season. The people of Odisha have seen a new avatar of Naveen during his road shows in which he directly engaged with the public. Needless to say, this strategy of connecting with people is buoying the prospects of BJD.

However, Indian elections are never short of slur and calumny. The Chief Minister was also a target of this false campaign when a section with vested interests circulated a video which shows the CM smoking while travelling in his state-of-the-art hi-tech bus.

BJD has released the actual footage which corroborates the facts. The incident was captured during the evening, when a hectic day’s campaign was going to end. The Chief Minister was tired and yawned as he moved his left palm to cover his mouth, which is a natural instinct. A cigarette was super-imposed during this point of the video.

“In an attempt to defame the CM, the Opposition is resorting to such dirty tricks”, a senior BJD leader said dismissing the video as fabricated.
