Bhubaneswar: A day after State Government’s Home Department tabled the White Paper in Odisha Assembly, opposition BJP and Congress have alleged there are number of lacunas that remain unanswered.

Senior Congress leader and Bolangir MLA Narasingha Mishra said there is a tradition to table White Paper of the Home Department before the discussion on the department's demand for grants.

While the White Paper of Home Department for the year 2018 was tabled yesterday, analysis of the papers tabled in last three years depicts the State Government is trying to hide something each year, he alleged.

Mishra asserted that earlier the State Government used to present a comparative picture of all cases registered in consecutive three years, but it is not being presented since last year. A chart with one page description of all cases registered under various sections had been tabled last year, but it was also not presented this year.

On the contrary senior BJD leader and Kendrapara MLA Sashi Bhusan Behera said the State Government never hides any fact. If a comparative picture has not been presented this year, the opposition can refer to the White Papers of yesteryears to get the picture.

There has been an increase in law and order situation not only in State but across the country, but the State Government is quite diligent to control it. While crime rate has increased with population growth, the State Government is taking necessary measures and actions in this regard.

Meanwhile, BJP's Loisingha MLA Mukesh Mahaling has said that the opposition will again corner the State Government over the lacunas in the White Paper during the demand discussion of the Home Department on Monday.
